About Me

Welcome to my blog. I have been blogging for awhile but i didn’t always blog publicly.  Turning the privacy off and going public with my blog was one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. I have met and exchanged with some truly marvelous and inspirational people and now WordPress is part of my daily life and I carry the words I read here in my heart out in the real world.

I realized my blog is a mess and for people stopping by for the first time it’s hard to understand who I am. So I am adding this “about me” page to try to help you understand what my blog is about.

It’s a diary more of less. So, it’s about everything.

My name is Tasha. I’m 26 years old.

I’m engaged to my best friend, my soul mate. We have been dating for almost 8 years. Every day with him is a gift in more ways than one. In February 2011 he unexpectedly fell ill and was rushed to the hospital. Within days he had open brain surgery and a tumor was removed. He was diagnosed with Brain Cancer, stage 3 , Oligodendroglioma. My blog is often about posts dealing with Cancer and all we experienced and underwent together with his fight and all that is yet to come. As of April 2015 it happened again. A tumor was found again, and he had a second brain surgery. We are currently going through journey again .

Straight out of highschool( honor roll student) I entered a good 4 year university. I was majoring in Women Studies and I struggled tremendously to conform. I was a wild child, always out in the streets at a rally or protest and writing in my journal going to poetry events with my nose in a book. When i entered this college it was so impersonal and while i loved to learn I hated the environment. It was killing all my passions both in women studies, politics and english. I left after the first year with bipolar grades ( A’s in women’s studies and english and d’s in everything else because i simply stopped attending those classes). I entered a community college and it was there that i found professors, peers and student groups that enabled me to thrive. I found my passion again. After changing majors several times i finally settled on Deaf Studies, American Sign Language. I graduated 2010 with my AA. It’s my goal to return back to college and get my BA ( though in a different field) and eventually my Masters than PHD. However, my dad fell ill right when i finished my community college then my fiance shortly after. I stayed home to care take for my boys.

I love animals. Always have, always will. A year and half ago, literally dropped on our door step we received the most wonderful gift in the world. My dog Bianca. She has a way of popping up randomly on my blog, just like she magically appears whenever someone is eating.

She jumps up on the chair in the kitchen to await being fed. Look at the smile!

I also have a second profile, my diet blog. I decided to make a new blog for that venture, which i started summer 2012. I posted about my health venture, to get fit. I post mostly health related news on this profile and keep Corner of Confessions for the personal stuff and for writing in general. Sometimes i forget which profile I am under so you will occasionally see a comment for me on that profile. I keep the same avatar image to help lessen the confusion.
EDIT: this blog is pretty much inactive but i keep it if i ever wish to start that venture again the platform is there.

In 2012 I started working part time at a retail store. I advanced over the years and currently I an still employed there I blog about this often. However in March 2015 I was hired for a really awesome organization  working with adults with developmental disabilities. So that is now my primary job, mon- fri. And i work my retail job nights and weekends.

Finally, I know most people cannot connect with others over the web. But, i have and I do. In one of my book forums we think of our group as sisters. One of the members had little a sister and she would often “talk” to us on the forums. She was so precious. Unfortunately, she lost her battle to leukemia. This is in remembrance to Gracie, our little angel sibling.

  1. That is such a cool scar. OMG. I hope he’s ok. I know how to say ‘baby hedgehog’ and ‘lesbian’ in sign language as well… so now I feel very clever lol.

I love this page! I was always teased by my fellow History majors who said I should have majored in Women’s Studies. Every project and time period studied, I’d always find some way to bring in the role of women.

So glad to hear that your man is doing much better. 🙂

    • Sneaky, i love it! I loved Women Studies, just that school was killing my passion. I never majored in English for fear school will kill my love for writing and reading. Everyone calls me crazy but i changed my major alot and through several majors and all of them are dead in the passion meter because of it.

Life is a constant struggle and you definitely are winning it by being positive and strong. I lost my mother due to cancer so this isn’t an easy journey, specifically the fear and uncertainty part.. I’m sure you know that already.
All the best to you Tasha and your beloved. More power to both of you.
    Best wishes.

Hi! I can say that I could somehow relate to how you had been through. My bestfriend, Paul, died due to brain cancer. He went to United States for his surgical treatment but unfortunately, the tumor went back … and when that happened, he refused to undergo another surgery. His family said that he kept on telling our days together, on how he treated me as his only younger brother. I was hard-headed child back then so I thought that his illness what just a pure lie. He died later on and I regret not having to tell him how much I value him as my bestfriend.
